“To the saints and faithful brothers in Christ at Colossae” (Colossians 1:2). Because of what I learned from Paul, that is the way I thought of the church – as a family.In a family, the well-being of every member is important, and members of the family should be willing to sacrifice themselves on behalf of other members. That is our identity as Christians: We are saints because we belong to Christ. We have been called and we are to be faithful to that call. Whether lay or clergy, ordained or unordained, deacons or elders, presbyters or bishops, we are brothers and sisters, members of the family.
